About
Raised by a single mother, Kelvin is one of five children she amazingly put through college. It is this experience that drives him to work every day to provide access and opportunity for folks with backgrounds like his own.
As a father and husband, Kelvin understands the challenges families face all across his community. He continues to work tirelessly as a volunteer coach, a tutor and a mentor with young people – just as countless others did for him.
During his professional career with tenures at Alabama State University, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Jefferson Department of Health, the Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Mayor’s office, Kelvin crafts public policy that supports families and communities. Kelvin has served in leadership roles in vital organizations such as the Birmingham Zoo, 100 Black Men of Birmingham and Sardis Missionary Baptist Church as a Deacon.
Kelvin is married to his wife, Korliss, and is the father of Jade, Zachary and Zoe. And, of course, his 90 pound furry son, Biscuit.
